A power cut in the Shotley area this morning saw up to 300 homes lose power

A power cut knocked out supplies to almost 300 homes on the Shotley Peninsula.
UK Power Networks, which looks after power supply in the area, said that it had been called on Monday morning following reports of a power cut affecting a large number of homes.
At its height, more than 400 homes had lost power but it has since been able to reconnect some homes.
The power cut is thought to have been caused by a high voltage overhead electricity line fault.

A power cut in villages south of Norwich cut supply to more than 600 homes on Friday afternoon.
- Credit: UK Power Networks A lot of work is required from engineers to fix a power cut which left more than 600 homes without electricity.
UK Power Networks said it was made aware of the issue, affecting some of those living in villages just south of Poringland, sandwiched between the A140 and A146, at 12.28pm on Friday.
Temporary generators have been put in place after an underground cable fault knocked out the power supply to 619 homes in that area.

Police have found the driver of car who left the scene after his car left the road early today and brought down power lines.
The incident happened on the A1101 Sutton Road, Wisbech near to the junction with Gypsy Lane, Leverington.
An off-duty police officer came across the abandoned car on his way home at 01.46am.
“The driver had left the scene, the vehicle was recovered by police and enquiries are ongoing into this,” said a post on Policing Fenland Facebook.
