Greater Sudbury’s event centre debate has been a brutally long and winding road, and once again the council table is divided right down the middle. I understand a lot of people are convinced the Kingsway Entertainment District will be the best thing since sliced bread, and councillors might feel pressure from their constituents (especially with the upcoming election) to just get something, anything done. If we end up building on that empty rock outcrop on the Kingsway, I pray that I am wrong. I love the downtown, sure, and I sit on the Downtown Sudbury BIA board, but this really isn’t about the Downtown vs the Kingsway. It’s about doing what’s worked for other cities and has proven successful.
