Planning decisions made by Wiltshire Council recently

Brinkworth: Plans for a new car port in Brinkworth were rejected by Wiltshire Council. The bid by David Aspin of Hulberts Greenfarm, Braydonside,Brinkworth would have seen the construction of a carport, equine rug and laundry room at Hulberts Cottage. In their report, planning officers wrote: “The proposed development, by reason of its form, scale, density, height, massing, siting and location would result in additional built form in a prominent location within the open countryside. “The proposal results in an outbuilding of a resultant scale not justified in relation to the essential need of the agricultural holding.” Bradford on Avon: Plans to convert offices in Bradford on Avon into a house have been given the green light.

Old Bradford bicycle factory to be converted into a house

Photo by Mathew Schwartz on Unsplash PLANS to convert offices in Bradford on Avon into a house have been given the green light. Moulton of Kingston Farm, Holt Road have won planning permission to transform the single-storey Anthony Best Dynamics Limited office building into a home. However, the town council argued that the plans should be rejected. It said: “The structure, although rebuilt, has historically been associated with the 1962 former Alex Moulton bicycle factory. “Change of use to residential is inappropriate and would have an adverse effect on the setting of the garden and integrity of the complex. “The planning strategy for Bradford on Avon is to retain essential employment uses to aid long-term sustainability and reduce outward commuting.”

M J Bale recruits 48 ewes for world-first carbon neutral wool trial

By Imogen Bailey | 13 July 2021 M.J. Bale has completed a world-first commercial trial to create carbon neutral wool, in partnership with Kingston Farm and Sea Forest Tasmania.  48 of Kingston Farm s Merino ewes were involved in the 300-day trial, which aimed to reduce sheep methane emissions to undetectable levels via daily feeds of asparagopsis seaweed. The trial was informed by the CSIRO s pioneering research into the use of native asparagopsis seaweed as a food supplement to disrupt sheep enteric fermentation.  According to Australia s National Greenhouse Accounts 2014, enteric fermentation from ruminant livestock (sheep, cattle and goats) contributes approximately 10% of total greenhouse-gas emissions across Australia.
