Information Minister Designate and Spokesperson for the Legal Team of the Second Respondent in the Presidential Election Petition, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah believes the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has been stripped naked during Monday s hearing of the case.
According to him, the Petitioner, Mr John Dramani Mahama and his witness, Johnson Asiedu Nketia who is affectionately called General Mosquito’ were exposed in their inconsistent claims challenging President Nana Addo’s victory in the December 7, 2020 polls.
His comments comes after counsel for the second respondent, Mr Akoto Ampaw ended cross examining Mr Asiedu Nketia Monday afternoon [February 1, 2020].
Mr Oppong Nkrumah told the media after the hearing that Mr Mahama and Johnson Asiedu Nketia were left with eggs on their faces in their preconceived attempts to dishonour the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC) and Returning Officer for last year s Presidential Elections, Madam Jean Me
Government has commended various stakeholders including the media and the general public for the varied roles they played in commemorating the final funeral rites of late President Jerry John Rawlings.
Speaking at the Minister’s press briefing in Accra on Thursday, January 28, 2021, Information Minister Designate, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah said government is pleased with the public compliance with the COVID-19 safety protocols during the event as well as the media s cooperation, a show of excellence and professionalism in covering the final funeral rites.
He said: “the government of Ghana wishes to thank the Ghanaian public for its cooperation during the activities commemorating the final funeral rites of former President Jerry John Rawlings. In particular, we note the public s compliance with the COVID-19 preventive etiquettes and the public s heed to the call to as much as possible to follow the event virtually which resulted in the avoidance of large crowds at the event.
The Director of Health Promotion at the Ghana Health Service, Dr Dacosta Aboagye says the high rise of COVID-19 will stop if Ghanaians adhere to simple instructions.
According to him, deliberate refusal to observe the safety protocols by medical experts has been a factor why cases are increasing in recent times.
