SEATTLE - It’s hard to find memories when Matthew Dennis was happy. He was fighting opioid addiction for 23 years of his life, said Matthew s mother, Rose Dennis.
Rose said Matthew got hooked at a young age all because he was treated with opioids while battling cancer. The gripping addiction eventually led Matthew to chase drugs on the streets, living in tents across Seattle for most of his adult life.

A couple that was attacked while they were walking last week in Chinatown-International District said Wednesday that they believe they were intentionally targeted by a man who left both of them with serious injuries during an attack they said was unprovoked. I truly believe he was trying to kill us, said Michael Poffenbarger, who is white and was walking with his Japanese-American girlfriend, Noriko, when the attack occurred. He hit her so hard (and) he hit me really really hard. I was amazed at how hard he hit my head and it didn’t knock me out, said Poffenbarger. I thought for sure, I had a skull fracture.

SEATTLE This week, the Seattle Police Department has been busy busting nearly a dozen people in bold and dangerous drug operations.
The raids happened around Downtown Seattle, Yesler Terrace and Pioneer Square some of them in a variety of homeless encampments.
But three men arrested in one of those operations, are already back out on the streets raising concerns from business owners and even the prosecutor’s office.
“What it is the limit? Where is the point we say, ‘enough is enough’ with these things?” asked Drinks & Eats owner Jonathan Fleming.
Charges filed against Seattle Fire Dept. employee over threatening emails to Kshama Sawant

The King County Prosecutor’s Office filed charges Wednesday against Seattle Fire Department employee Andrew Finseth, over threatening emails sent to Councilmember Kshama Sawant.
Finseth, 42, faces two counts of cyberstalking and one count of second-degree identity theft. The latter of those charges is a felony, while cyberstalking constitutes a gross misdemeanor.
The emails began on Dec. 17, 2020, with escalating language that culminated in a threat against Councilmember Sawant’s life on Jan. 18, 2021.
“The time is here, and you will not have a place after tomorrow council woman,” the Jan. 18 email read. “Announce your resignation now, or else.”
