KING COUNTY, Wash. - Firearm violence in King County rose exponentially in 2020 and has not stopped in 2021, according to a report released by the prosecuting attorney s office.
The King County Prosecuting Attorney s Office on Thursday released its Shots Fired report a collection of data analysis showing reported shootings in King County.
In just the first six months of 2021, the number of fatal shooting victims was up 48% while nonfatal shooting victims was up 65% over a four-year average for the same period between 2017-2020, according to the report.
Man charged with first-degree murder in 2018 gang-related shooting deaths of teen girls in Burien

BURIEN, Wash. - A man who s already in prison for a separate murder conviction has been charged in the gang-related 2018 shooting deaths of of a 13-year-old girl and 19-year-old girl in Burien.
The King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office on Monday charged 23-year-old Francisco I. Montero with two counts of first-degree murder. He was convicted in 2018 of second-degree murder for a separate shooting death, also gang-related, and is serving a 15-year sentence.
Prosecutors called Montero unrepentant and said he has murdered multiple rival gang members.

SEATTLE The man accused of stealing the personal vehicle of a Seattle officer after she was hit and killed on I-5 on June 13 faces three felony charges.
Roger Lee Owens Jr., 49, was charged with hit and run, theft of a motor vehicle, and unlawful possession of a firearm by the King County Prosecuting Attorney s Office on Tuesday.
Owens is being held on $250,000 bail.

BELLEVUE, WA An undercover operation in Bellevue last week led to the rescue of three young sex-trafficking victims and 16 arrests, the police department announced Tuesday. The arrests included 14 men booked on suspicion of patronizing a prostitute, another accused of illegal possession of a firearm and one woman accused of promoting prostitution. According to investigators, police also confiscated a loaded gun, drug paraphernalia and cash.
With help from the FBI and the King County Sheriff s Office, Bellevue police said the two-night sting was in response to increased sexual exploitation reports and escalating violence associated with the crimes.
