RENTON, Wash. - Charges have been filed against a Renton mother under investigation for medical child abuse, a case in which prosecutors say is something they haven t seen in recent memory.
The investigation into 31-year-old Sophie Hartman began with a series of doctors who believed her now 6-year-old adopted daughter was being given unnecessary medical treatment at the urging of her mother.
Court documents say the child has had nearly 500 medical appointments since she was around 2 years old and has had what doctors called an unnecessary medical procedure, with a surgically implanted feeding tube, as well as a cecostomy tube, to help flush the intestines. The child also had leg braces and a wheelchair despite doctors telling her mother that they were unnecessary, according to court documents.

Almost two weeks after a man was stabbed to death outside a Bothell apartment building, Asian American social groups are demanding justice. Justice for me, at least my definition, is making sure that we have accountability in place, said Renton City Councilmember Kim-Khanh Van.
Van said she had mixed emotions after hearing about the unprovoked attack on a 29-year old Asian American man last month. She s calling on elected officials to speak out against anti-Asian violence.
Police said John Huynh was stabbed to death outside an apartment building in Bothell. Witnesses said the entire interaction between Huynh and the 25-year-old suspect lasted less than one minute. The suspect has been charged with second-degree murder.

I wanted to share a break-in incident we had here at the Broxton (5016 California Ave SW) to make the community aware. An intruder broke into our condo building on the evening of May 4th around 10 pm. They spent over 30 minutes inside the building, stealing at least 1 item and tampering with at least 1 vehicle in our parking garage. We would appreciate any/all feedback from the community on this person’s identity to add to our open police report.
