SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) –Sioux Falls Thrive has partnered with Samaritans Feet to distribute approximately 480 pairs of shoes this week to children in the Kid Link Riverside Initiative neighborhood. Each child will receive a “Hope Tote” drawstring book bag that contains a new pair of athletic shoes, socks, hygiene kit (toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, soap, comb, alcohol wipe, mask, and washcloth), and a “Hope Note” with an encouraging message submitted online from Samaritans Feet supporters.
On Friday, Feb. 5, from 10 a.m. to noon, volunteers will help pack and prepare the shoes. Later that day, approximately 380 Hope Totes will be taken to Laura B. Anderson Elementary School and teachers will then distribute the shoes to students.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) Candy Hanson has stepped back from leading Sioux Falls Thrive. Michelle Erpenbach, who joined Thrive this past March to run its Kid Link Riverside Initiative, assumed the presidentâs position on Jan. 1.
âWeâve expected and prepared for this transition for some time,â said Deb Koski, Chair of Thriveâs Board of Directors. âThe good news is that while Candy is leaving her administrative position, sheâll continue to direct Thriveâs housing, food security, and out-of-school time action teams and to facilitate several task teams.â
Hanson was closing out 15 years with the Sioux Falls Area Community Foundation when she was asked to develop Thrive as a cradle to career initiative targeted by Forward Sioux Falls Strategic Workforce Action Agenda.
