South Kitsap father charged in death of 5-month-old son
A 35-year-old South Kitsap man was charged Thursday with the crime of homicide by abuse for the September death of his 5-month-old son partly based on the opinion of a Tacoma doctor whose credentials have been questioned.
Michael Dominic Rivera was arrested Wednesday by Kitsap County sheriff s detectives at his work in the NCIS office at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.
The boy, identified as TTR in court documents, died Sept. 22 from homicide that was a result of “undetermined violent means,” according to documents filed in Kitsap County Superior Court.
Medics and deputies were first called to Rivera’s residence on SE Pennswood Court Sept. 16 after receiving reports that the baby was not breathing and that Rivera was giving him CPR.

Injuries sustained by a woman who was stabbed Tuesday were so severe authorities were afraid she would not survive being flown to a Seattle hospital so she went into surgery at St. Michael Medical Center and was given a “50/50” chance of survival.
The man accused of stabbing the woman, Joshua Morgan Taylor, 41, was charged Wednesday in Kitsap County Superior Court with attempted second-degree murder. Taylor is a resident of the Village Fair Apartments. The stabbing was reported at 2:52 p.m. in the complex’s leasing office, where the victim worked.
As Kitsap County sheriff’s deputies entered Taylor s apartment at the complex he showed up at the hospital in Silverdale for a “behavioral health concern,” a detective wrote in court documents.
