KINGSTON, Wash. - A child luring incident is being investigated in Kingston, Kitsap County.
The incident happened last Thursday before noon, according to the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office, and a witness reported seeing a man in a vehicle luring young children under the age of six with a dog. They described an older gentleman with white hair driving a newer white sedan who had a small white dog with him and he was trying to coax some small children to come see his dog or lure them towards him, said Sgt. Ken Dickinson, Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office. The passerby was able to slow down and kind of stare, or look at the person, and scared him off.
Police body camera policies vary widely in Washington Joel Moreno, KOMO News Reporter © Provided by KOMO-TV Seattle
The body camera footage of the police shootings of Daunte Wright in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota and Adam Toledo in Chicago have grabbed the attention of almost the entire nation.
Body cameras offer a powerful tool for the public to help ensure police accountability but many agencies still don t use them. For those that do, some activists have found public access to the footage can still be a problem.
In Seattle, all officers wear body cameras and footage from deadly force incidents is made public within 72 hours. However, in recent years the department has typically released the video with 24 hours.
