Benefit cookout for injured KM officers is Sat

Elmer O Boyle believes it s easy to forget the sacrifices police officers make on the public s behalf.  He wants to make sure that s not the case for two Kings Mountain police officers injured in the line of duty over the past year.  They need to see that the community is behind them and that we ve got their back, O Boyle. We don t want them to ever feel like they ve been forgotten.   That s why officers and first responders will eat their fill for free at O Boyle s Back the Blue Cookout from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday in front of the Cleveland County Courthouse, located at 100 Justice Place in Shelby. O Boyle said a collection of tasty backyard eats will be on the menu, including hamburgers, hot dogs, free drinks and nachos.

The Crow s Nest launching in Kings Mountain

To him, it feels a little like coming home.  I was a member here beginning in 1993 when I was 15, Acheson said. Lot of great memories here for me.   Acheson is the general manager and chef of the country club s new restaurant concept, The Crow s Nest, that will debut this month at 109 Country Club Lane in Kings Mountain.  It s a joint venture with partners Laura Arrowood, Marc Arrowood and Kevin Arrowood that will transform a space that was once a semi-private bar for club members into a full service restaurant for the general public. You can expect it to launch by the second week in March.

Man charged with shooting NC police officer given $750K bond

In an emailed statement to WCNC Charlotte, Chief Proctor said: My officer Cpl. Whittington is recovering and has a very long road ahead of him. He is still in pain at times but is progressing daily. He is in good spirits and told me today that he holds “no ill will toward the shooter and has forgiven him.” Cpl. Whittington says “we must be willing to forgive as Christ has forgiven us”.  I, Chief Proctor, know that those words seem strange to many but we will never heal as individuals, as a City, State or Nation until we learn to come together and truly care for one another even in the most difficult situations. I do not know what caused Mr. Anthony to shoot Cpl. Whittington but I thank God that he is still here and progressing daily. We are so thankful that we did not have to plan another funeral for another hometown hero as we all have seen with the tragic killings of Officer Tyler Herndon of Mt Holly Police and Officer Jason Shuping of Concord Police.
