Eric Bryant, 49, was ordered held without bail Thursday by a Cook County judge on a charge of dismembering 61-year-old Kimiko Armstrong. Prosecutors said she was found dead in late July after her South Shore neighbors noticed a “very bad smell” emanating from the second floor of her apartment building, the Chicago Tribune reported.
Officers found Armstrong’s body wrapped in plastic and bedding on a hallway floor, police said.

Chicago police officers conducted a wellbeing check July 23 at an apartment in the 7400 block of South Chappel Avenue, Cook County prosecutors said in court Thursday.
It remains unclear exactly how Armstrong, 61, died, prosecutors said.
Narcotics were found in Armstrong’s body, which had been decomposing inside the home, but no obvious trauma was discovered, prosecutors said.
