Gardner Museum opens doors to visitors after extended, busy offseason

GARDNER After an extended winter break, the Gardner Museum is once again open to the public. The museum resumed its regular open hours of Wednesday through Sunday, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., starting on Thursday, April 1. Coordinator Marion Knoll said her staff used the extra downtime this year to sort through the museum’s vast archive, update collections and affix updated labels to various items throughout the building. “I’ve been here every day, almost,” Knoll said. “But as you can see, I’ve updated many of the permanent displays and grouped certain items together as part of the displays.”

Dallas councilors bid farewell

Itemizer-Observer DALLAS — The three outgoing Dallas City councilors said their goodbyes on Dec. 7, the last Dallas City Council’s meeting of 2020. Council President Jennie Rummell, and councilors Kelly Gabliks and Terry Crawford terms will end Dec. 31. They will be replaced with new councilors Kim Fitzgerald, Rod Dunham and Kirsten Collins, who were elected to the council in November’s general election. “We really appreciate your work. You spend years and years on this business, and you realize how complicated it is, and you have done a lot of good work for your citizens,” said Mayor Brian Dalton to open the Dec. 7 meeting. “I can’t thank you enough. The whole community is thankful.”

The Big Chill 32 years ago today | News, Sports, Jobs - Adirondack Daily Enterprise

hjriley@roadrunner.com Jim had a birthday recently. I don’t know if he turned 50 or if he worked at the Enterprise for 50 years, or maybe I was remembering that we worked together at the Enterprise in the ’50s. Whatever … Happy birthday, Jim, I just hope I look that good when I get to be your age. Ha ha … The Enterprise headline Monday, Dec. 12, 1988, read: “The Big Chill! Tri-Lakes in a deep freeze.” Tell me about climate change: Remember we had to walk 8 miles to school, uphill both ways; it was always 20 below zero with 2 feet of new snow every night.
