Oelwein Police Handle Assault, OWI, and Accident
A local woman has been arrested on an assault charge.
Oelwein Police were called at 3am Sunday (Feb. 28), on the report of a domestic disturbance in the 300 block of 1st Avenue NW. Following an investigation, officers took 31 year old Brooke Sommerfelt of Oelwein, into custody. Sommerfelt is being charged with Domestic Abuse Assault, an Aggravated Misdemeanor.

An Oelwein woman was arrested following a traffic stop Friday night. At about 7:45pm, police pulled over a vehicle in the 10 block of 2nd Street NW. The driver, 46 year old Kimberli Giesbrecht, was taken into custody for Operating While Intoxicated, and Driving While Suspended.
