ONTARIO – The Eastern Ontario Warden’s Caucus (EOWC) has issued recommendations to the province to improve delivery of long-term care in facilities throughout the region.
The recommendations were a part of a review conducted of long-term care facilities in Eastern Ontario.
The EOWC issued the following recommendations:
Increase direct care funding to achieve the Provincial benchmark of the four hours of care model;
Transition to a per bed funding model to increase clarity, efficiency, and transparency of the funding process;
The province is pledging $200 million to help municipalities with local infrastructure projects.
That was one of the investments announced at this week’s virtual Rural Ontario Municipal Association Conference.
Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, Steve Clark, says a lot of municipalities voiced support for the government’s plan to increase broadband and cellular access.

Grey and Bruce communities hope to see provincial support for pandemic aid and some highway improvements after talks with Provincial government officials at the ROMA conference this week.
The Rural Ontario Municipal Association conference was held Monday and Tuesday (Jan 25-26) with local municipal and County representatives among the roughly 11 hundred people in attendance virtually this year.
Bruce Grey Owen Sound MPP Bill Walker, who tries to accompany and support the bulk of local municipalities at ROMA, says “There’s certainly concerns about social services and those types of things and what’s going to happen after the pandemic.” He adds, a lot more people may be in more challenging situations, so how to we address this?”
