Harbor Officials Support Toned Down Concert for July 2, Hope Bigger Things Follow Courtesy of the Crescent City Harbor District Previously: ### It’ll be a more low-key affair than initially described, but Crescent City Harbor commissioners hope a July 2 concert will lead to bigger things. In fact, one of the newest commissioners, Harry Adams, says he’s planning for a reggae concert on July 21. Mike Schmidt’s event kicking off Independence Day weekend near his restaurant, Schmidt’s House of Jambalaya, “is getting our feet wet,” Adams told his colleagues Tuesday. “I wouldn’t mind it in the future of the harbor benefitting from these,” Adams said, adding that the Reggae artist he spoke with approached him about performing at the harbor. “It can grow, but it’s got to start somewhere before it can grow.”

In 2019, the pantry handed out self-selected bags of non-perishables just over 6,000 times.

Santa s Workshop Spreads Christmas Cheer This Weekend; Program Will Offer Toys To Restaurant Workers, Owners Volunteers with Santa’s Workshop will be hard at work this weekend, distributing gifts to roughly 218 families. Meanwhile, thanks to Sutter Coast Hospital, Santa’s Workshop will open its doors to restaurant workers and owners Tuesday and Wednesday. In addition to parents being able to pick out toys for their youngsters, they will receive gift cards for gasoline as well as Walmart or Safeway, according to Celia Perez, a board member for Rural Human Services, Santa’s Workshop’s long-time organizer. “At least it’ll get them out for the day,” she told the Wild Rivers Outpost on Friday. “They can look at lights with their kids or they can go buy a turkey or something for Christmas dinner.”
