Funding boost for six Clare communities

SIX towns and villages in Clare have been given a funding boost of just under €800,000 to help local communities adapt to life under Covid-19 restrictions.
A total of €779,242 has been allocated to the local projects under the Town and Village Renewal Scheme 2020.
€200,000 has been granted to Obair in Newmarket-On-Fergus to regenerate a derelict building on main street. The project will see the construction of a production kitchen, cooking enterprise hubs, a commercial cookery school, holistic space and office suites and a youth cafe. The project aims to help make Newmarket-On-Fergus to be a more sustainable village in which to live, work and socialise.

LIMERICK City and County Council has received funding of nearly €700,000 for six projects under the Town and Village Renewal Scheme.
The funding, from the Department of Rural and Community Development was awarded by an independent panel following a competitive application process.
The successful projects, which are located in Feenagh, Glin, Croom, Caherconlish, Doon and Rathkeale, have a particular emphasis on stimulating economic development.
The funding will also assist towns and villages to implement measures that can help them to respond to the challenges associated with Covid-19.
Welcoming the allocation of the funding, the Mayor of the city and county of Limerick, Cllr Michael Collins said:
Tipperary Mid West Radio
The following projects across Tipperary have been approved for funding under the Town and Village Renewal Scheme:
Birdhill – Install kerbing and tarmac on the paths in Birdhill Community Park to improve accessibility (€22,500)
Kilbarron – Village Enhancement, including, removal, replacement and pruning of all trees; upgrading of footpaths around the village (€51,525)
Templemore Town -Upgrade of Templemore Town Park recreation amenity; upgrading the main pathways, installing benches and erecting signage (€53,000)
Boherlahan Village – Create a pedestrian connection between the two distinct parts of Boherlahan village and enhance the streetscape (€171,000)
Kilsheelan – Enhancement of Blueway in Kilsheelan including lighting on the Blueway and Integrated Technology to showcase Kilsheelan (€90,000)

Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys, today (Friday, January 8) announced over €15.4 million under the Town and Village Renewal Scheme.
The funding will assist towns and villages to implement measures that can help them to respond to the challenges associated with Covid-19.
The funding will benefit 147 towns and villages and will fund a wide and diverse range of projects nationwide including walkways; community parks; outdoor cinemas; cycleways as well as the regeneration of derelict buildings and enhancement works at tourism attractions and other important local amenities.
Rural digital hubs
Funding has also been provided for the development of a number of remote working facilities in rural towns and villages.
Four Donegal projects are to share â¬400,000 under the Town and Village Renewal Scheme.Â
The funding will assist towns and villages to implement measures that can help them to respond to the challenges associated with COVID-19.
Funding for projects in Donegal include:
Ardara: The installation of a canopy along the Riverside Walk; a Masterplan (regeneration plan); and a Health Check. â¬100,000
Bruckless: The provision of a community park and outdoor recreational amenity. â¬100,000
Carrick: The reinstatement of a pedestrian bridge crossing Glen River; a Masterplan (regeneration plan) and a Town Health Check. â¬100,000
Crossroads: The construction of a pedestrian footbridge over a tributary of the River Finn to provide access to recreational amenities. â¬100,000
