Aalagramam, a nondescript village in Mailam block in the district, which was notorious for illicit liquor brewing in the recent past, has become the latest hamlet to join the list of illicit arrack-free villages in the district.

The Kallakurichi district police have started installing Closed Circuit Television Cameras (CCTVs) to cover all the statues of leaders as part of enhancing security and to prevent the statues from being desecrated.
Kallakurichi district, encompassing three police sub-divisions Kallakurichi, Ulundurpet and Tirukovilur has about 120 statues of leaders. The statues of Mahatma Gandhi, B.R. Ambedkar, Periyar, former Chief Ministers, C.N. Annadurai, M.G. Ramachandran and Jayalalithaa are located in both public and private places.

AAA To build a better rapport with local communities, the Nilgiris district police have assigned Village Vigilance Police Officers (VVPOs) for more than 854 villages and hamlets across the district.
The policing initiative is aimed at building ties with local communities and pre-emptively working towards solving problems faced by the communities, especially those in remote, inaccessible areas.
Around 500 police personnel, of the rank of head constable and constable have been assigned the task of visiting their assigned hamlets and villages at least once a week, interact with residents and hear their grievances.

The Pudukottai Police has taken to social media to post details of night patrol officers daily to enable the public get in touch with the officer concerned in case of any emergency during the odd hours.
Information regarding the names of police officers carrying out the night patrols along with their mobile numbers are being circulated in WhatsApp by the Social Media Cell of the district police daily which in turn gets shared at the ground level to reach the general public.
A team of police officers are nominated daily to carry night patrols at the district-level, sub divisional and station levels. The Pudukottai district accounts for a total number of 38 Law and Order police stations, five All Women police stations and four Traffic Units.
