Stage Set For Third Phase Elections To 2,640 Panchayats In AP Feb 16, 2021, 17:37 IST
Arrangements have been made in place for the Third phase of the Gram Panchayat Elections to be held tomorrow.
As per the schedule, the polling will be held from 6.30 am to 3.30 pm. However, polling will be held in Visakhapatnam and East Godavari Agency villages till 1.30 pm Counting of votes will start from 4 pm.
Elections will be held for 2,640 panchayats in 160 constituencies in 20 divisions in 13 districts. However, in the third phase, the total number of panchayats was 3,221 and 579 of them were declared unanimous. There are 2,640 panchayats where elections will be held tomorrow. However, nominations were not registered in the three panchayats.

VISAKHAPATNAM: Municipal administration minister Botsa Satyanarayana on Sunday asserted that YSRCP-backed candidates have swept the second phase of gram panchayat elections also by winning most sarpanch and ward members’ posts in villages.
Addressing a press conference in Visakhapatnam on Sunday, he said ruling party nominees won 2,639 of 3,328 panchayats that went to polls on Saturday. TDP won 536 panchayats, Jana Sena 36, BJP 6, and 108 went to others. The minister said in the first phase, YSRCP supporters won 2,637 of 3,244 panchayats while TDP-backed candidates bagged 508 panchayats and 99 went to others.

Seeks fresh elections in Punganuru, Marcherla and Tamballapalle panchayats Accusing large-scale violence and irregularities in the Gram Panchayat elections in the State, the TDP has urged the State Election Commissioner (SEC) to “rein in the anarchy unleashed by the ruling party leaders and activists” and ensure free and fair polls.
In a representation submitted to the poll Commissioner N. Ramesh Kumar on Saturday, TDP leaders Varla Ramaiah and Bonda Umamaheswara Rao alleged that the ongoing elections were replete with incidence of violence, kidnappings, tearing of the nomination papers and ‘forced’ unanimous election of the YSR Congress Party-backed candidates. They said some of the candidates were being harassed by officials

The East Godavari district on Saturday witnessed 82.86% turnout of voters in the second phase of gram panchayat elections held in Rajamahendravaram and Ramachandrapuram revenue divisions.
Over 6.16 lakh voters exercised their franchise among the total voters of among the total voters of above 7.44 lakh in the second phase conducted in the 14 mandals.
In Kandarada panchayat in Pithapuram mandal, where re-polling was conducted on Saturday, 84 per of polling was recorded and the Sarpanch aspirant (supported by the YSR Congress Party) was declared winner, said District Panchayat Officer S.V. Nageswar Naik.
