Nothing else matters to 8-year-old Brady Columbus when it’s Alex Bregman’s turn to bat. The toys he’s playing with can wait. The puzzles can be put together later. The world comes to a stop when Bregman steps into the batter’s box, which is when Brady darts in front of the television and plops down with his father on the couch to watch.
Bregman, the Astros’ 27-year-old star third baseman, could hit a home run or strike out and Brady is going to cheer for him just the same. The results of the at-bat are of no consequence to him, though his father certainly has a bit more of a vested interest (more on that later). But once Bregman disappears from the TV screen, so does Brady.

LAKELAND The Polk County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help to track down a white male who broke into a pre-kindergarten classroom at Griffin Elementary School and did at least $1,500 in damage to the building, including windows and doors.
The Sheriff s Office said that on March 5 at 8:20 p.m., the suspect burglarized a Pre-K classroom portable at the school in unincorporated Lakeland. When he broke into the classroom, he caused substantial damage to the building.
The suspect is a white male, possibly in his 30s, with short brown hair. At the time of the crime, he was wearing a black short-sleeved shirt with some sort of graphic on the front, black shorts with an orange stripe on the pant, and black and white Nike sneakers.

LAKELAND Texas-based IDEA Public Schools has approval to open a kindergarten-through-12th-grade school in Lakeland in 2023 after the Polk County School Board unanimously passed the non-profit education company’s performance-based agreement Tuesday evening.
“The last time we were before you, we were working out a couple of details,” said Brian Warren, Polk County Public Schools senior director of acceleration and innovation, which oversees the district’s charter schools. “We have reached a resolution on those.”
