(AP) - A former sheriff’s deputy in South Carolina has been charged for his alleged role in a July incident where he was accused of unlawfully arresting someone, leaving that person injured. Ryan Andrew Gibson, 29, of Greer, was charged Friday with assault and battery third-degree, misconduct and misconduct in office, according to the State Law Enforcement Division. The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation after community activist Traci Fant reached out about the procedure for filing a formal complaint against Gibson, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.
