Results from the Air Resources Board’s May 2020 quarterly auction show that just 35% of the climate pollution allowances made available for purchase were sold, raising less than $25 million for the state’s Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund. 

Record year for California Climate Investments: $3 1 billion invested in 2020 across California

SACRAMENTO – Despite the challenges posed by a global pandemic and unprecedented heat and wildfires, 2020 was another record year for California Climate Investments with more than $3.1 billion invested in more than 51,000 projects across California’s 58 counties. Projects implemented in 2020 alone will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by nearly 18 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent over the course of their lifetimes. Of the $3.1 billion investment in 2020, $1 billion is benefiting disadvantaged and low-income communities and households collectively referred to as priority populations. To date, more than $4 billion in California Climate Investments funds have benefited priority populations nearly half of all project investments. Californians have benefitted from these investments through improved public health, fire prevention, affordable housing and energy efficiency, as well as significant reductions in emissions of greenhouse gases. City Council raises concerns about Shelter Solano, but backs CDBG action plan FAIRFIELD A divided City Council on Tuesday approved the 2021-22 Community Development Block Grant annual Action Plan, which included an amendment for $151,332 in federal CARES Act funds for operations of the Ohio Street Transitional Housing for homeless individuals at high risk for Covid-19. The vote was 5-2 with Councilwomen Pam Bertani and Catherine Moy dissenting. The city is slated to receive $834,203 with the maximum of $143,317 designated for allocations in the Public Service category. There were concerns about the public outreach seeking comment on the plan. Bertani also raised concerns about how much funding was being allocated to Shelter Inc., which runs Shelter Solano on Beck Avenue, which she said is “underperforming.”
