Greg Scott seeks re-election as Norristown district court judge

NORRISTOWN â Born and raised in Norristown, incumbent District Court Judge Gregory Scott says heâs been honored to serve his community and he wants to continue âto advocate for equity within our justice systemâ with a second term. âI am proud of my work in and out of the courtroom. While we have accomplished a lot, there is more to do and I look forward to finishing my work as it relates to the Montgomery County Pre-Trial Services program and ensuring that we are not holding individuals in confinement unnecessarily,â Scott, 34, said recently as he announced his re-election bid during the May 18 primary election for district court judge in Montgomery Countyâs Magisterial District Court 38-2-09, which encompasses parts of Norristown Borough.

Philadelphia man charged in 2012 gunshot slaying in Norristown

NORRISTOWN â A Philadelphia man wanted for his alleged role in the Christmas Day 2012 gunshot slaying of a Norristown man was apprehended in the borough on Thursday after a pursuit during which he is accused of trying to strike a detective with a vehicle. Rasheed Abdul Farrelle, 36, of the 4700 block of Penn Street, was arraigned via video before District Court Judge Scott Palladino on charges of first- and third-degree murder, conspiracy and person not to possess a firearm in connection with the alleged Dec. 25, 2012, fatal shooting of Paul Brown. Prosecutors said Farrelle also was charged with aggravated and simple assault and recklessly endangering another person in connection with his alleged assault of a detective during Thursdayâs pursuit.
