Cyclists ready to get back in the saddle after finishing RAGBRAI recently will see hundreds of miles of new trails on the updated statewide bicycle map from the Iowa Department of Transportation.
Printed bi-annually, the maps detail bike-friendly routes on paved roads and trails across Iowa. Craig Markley, from the Iowa Department of Transportation, said there have been significant additions since the last map was printed two years ago, and Iowa now has about 2,500 miles of bike trails.
A static online version of the map, which includes insets of Iowa s 16 largest cities, as well as an interactive version, can be found online at iowadot.gov. Free printed copies can also be requested by filling out a form on the Iowa DOT website.
