Parks, Public Works projects get green light from City Council
Kirksville Daily Express
The Kirksville City Council approved a number of items as part of Monday’s meeting. Most of those items were centered on ongoing projects with the Public Works and Parks and Recreation departments.
Here’s a rundown of what was approved at the meeting.
Tower Lease agreement
The council approved a tower lease agreement with US Cellular, the second of three planned agreements between the city and cell phone corporations. One with AT&T was approved earlier this year.
These companies have used the old water tower to deliver signals. Since that water tower will be deconstructed, they have moved to different spaces. US Cellular will join AT&T, and eventually Verizon, on the Mark Twain Communications tower.
Kirksville schools going back to virtual on Dec. 14
Kirksville Daily Express
The Kirksville R-III School District is pivoting back to Level 3, which will send instruction back to virtual methods.
This move will take effect beginning Monday, Dec. 14 and last for at least two weeks. According to a release from the school district, all activities scheduled through Dec. 12 will continue. The R-III board will then re-assess the status of those activities during its Dec. 16 meeting.
The district announced its new criteria for pivoting during its most recent meeting on Dec. 3, which has four indicators to measure the status of COVID-19 in the community. The indicators of cases for the last seven days and the percent change are both in the red, which pushes the district to Level 3.
