Kirksville man charged with making terrorist threat at McDonald s

A Kirksville man received four charges in Adair County court last week including for making terrorist threats following an April incident at a McDonald s.
Cyle Kelly, 33, was charged with second-degree terrorist threat, second-degree harassment and two charges of fourth-degree assault after an altercation at the South Baltimore McDonalds on April 30.
According to court documents, Kirksville police were dispatched to the McDonalds on South Baltimore following a call about an irate customer. Police made contact with Kelly and arrested him regarding a DWI charge from a few days prior.
Scott Williamson picked as next Kirksville Police Chief
Scott Williamson has been selected as Kirksville’s next Chief of Police.
The city announced the move on Tuesday with a press release. According to that release, Williamson serves as a lieutenant with the Kauai Police Department in Lihue, Hawaii. He was worked there since 2008.
He has also experience working patrol, investigations and community relations.
“This is an important position for the City of Kirksville, our department, and our community. I believe Scott will bring a mix of experience and skills with a natural sense of how to work with others, and a proven record of community outreach,” said City Manager Mari Macomber in the release.
Kirksville police investigating homicide on South Baltimore
The Kirksville Police Department has a suspect in custody following a homicide on Thursday evening.
According to a news release from the police department, at around 5:09 p.m., KPD, Kirksville Fire and Adair County Ambulance personnel responded to a home on the 800 block of South Baltimore regarding a man who was assaulted with a knife. Emergency staff began treating that man, a 49-year-old Kirksville resident. He was taken to Northeast Regional Medical Center and did not survive his injuries.
During the ensuing on-scene investigation, police were given the description of a 17-year-old male suspect, a male witness and a vehicle that left the scene prior to KPD’s arrival. Officers located the witness and at around 9:39 p.m., officers located the suspected vehicle at the intersection of Wilson and Orchard streets.
Kirksville police believe recent vehicle thefts are related

The Kirksville Police Department has been investigating a string of burglaries and motor vehicle thefts over the last few weeks.
According to a release from the department, it believes them to be related.
On Jan. 26, police were called about a black 1990 Ford F150 pickup truck that was stolen from the 1100 block of East Jefferson Street. The person who called police said he believed he had all known keys to the truck. The vehicle is still missing.
On Feb. 2, police were called to Snelling Auto Plaza for the theft of a grey 2014 Honda CRV-EX. The suspect in that crime broke into the building, grabbed the keys and then drove the vehicle off. It has also not been recovered.
