SWAT snipers shot and killed a wanted man April 13 after they reported seeing him armed with a gun and “holding back” his girlfriend at the end of a long standoff at San Diego High School, according to video released Thursday.
The body-worn camera footage released by San Diego police showed the moments before two SWAT snipers killed 36-year-old Christopher Templo Marquez, as well as the moments afterward, when SWAT officers swarmed a dumpster where Marquez had holed up with his girlfriend.
Because of Marquez’s position in the trash bin, and the positions SWAT officers had taken up for safety, the footage did not capture Marquez being shot.

The pursuit wound its way to the north and west, eventually reaching Loma Portal via Interstate 8, Dobbs said. NATIONAL CITY, Calif. (CNS) - A woman who was alongside a fugitive during a SWAT standoff at San Diego High School was behind bars Thursday on suspicion of vehicle theft and being an accessory to a crime after the fact, police said.
Janeth Iriarte, 33, was with 36-year-old Christopher Templo Marquez during an 11-hour standoff at the Park Boulevard campus that ended Tuesday morning when two SWAT officers fatally shot Marquez, fearing he was about to kill Iriarte, according to National City police. Iriarte was uninjured during the encounter.

A fugitive suspected of shooting at police and private investigators three times within the last month was shot and killed by SWAT officers Tuesday morning, following an overnight standoff in downtown San Diego.
Christopher Templo Marquez, 36, had been holed up in a large trash bin on the campus of San Diego High School for about 11 hours, San Diego police said. Officers opened fire believing he was about to shoot a woman with him in the dumpster.
Police homicide Lt. Matt Dobbs said Marquez had grown increasingly agitated as the standoff stretched on, and he started to take it out on the woman. Police heard Marquez make comments, then saw him push the woman into a position where they believed he was about to shoot her.
