View Comments El Paso police gang investigators arrested a 19-year-old man on Tuesday accused in a drive-by shooting that sent schoolchildren running for cover. The Gang Unit arrested Jesus Soto on two counts of deadly conduct-discharge of a firearm in connection with a shooting at a home on Johnson Avenue next to Travis Elementary School in the Lower Dyer area of Central El Paso. Two 18-year-olds were inside the home when it was struck by several shots at 11:20 a.m. on June 3 in the 3800 block of Johnson Avenue, police said. A police news release stated that children at the neighboring school reportedly ran for cover after hearing the gunfire. There were no injuries reported.

Police gang unit investigators accuse Soto of firing multiple rounds into a home at 3813 Johnson Avenue in central El Paso on June 3 as he targeted two teens inside; neither was struck by the gunfire, which also prompted a lockout of nearby Travis Elementary School.
