COVID-19 Coronavirus Please understand that we did not make this decision lightly. But, in light of Tennessee Governor Bill Lee’s executive order, guidance from local authorities, and the overwhelming burden our healthcare workers face, we believe the wisest decision is to make this temporary transition. 

Holiday Sharing 2020 For Dec 10

Even though the holiday season is going to be different this year, there are still plenty of ways to get in the Christmas spirit by helping others in Long Beach. The Long Beach Branch NAACP is collecting gift cards to help underprivileged, low-income children get gifts for Christmas. Mail cards to LB NAACP, P.O. Box 1594, Long Beach, CA 90801. The deadline is Dec. 11. The American Red Cross is hosting more than a dozen blood donation events Dec. 11 through Jan. 4. The first one is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11, at the Long Beach Playhouse, 5021 E. Religion news in brief

First Christian Church This Sunday’s service is “A Celebration of the Music of Christmas be led by Music Director Gwenlyn Boley. The church, 401 N. Dixon St., is having in-person worship at 10 a.m. in the sanctuary. The service will also be livestreamed on Facebook. Open communion is celebrated each Sunday. The church is following social distancing guidelines and deep cleaning its facilities in accordance with pandemic-related safety and health considerations. Every Tuesday at Noon and Sunday at 8:30 a.m. the congregation hosts a “Call to Prayer” at the church. If you are physically unable to be at the church, set a reminder on your phone and pause to pray.
