However, there s still a common goal: to help others. KIMT News 3 checked in with them to see how the their annual Christmas Giving Tree event is going. For starters, it went virtual this year. Every year, the Social Action and Outreach group at the church partners with local non-profits to help them out during the holidays. In previous years, there would be a Christmas tree, displaying ornaments with donations people can choose from to give back to the organizations. THE Braintree community has rallied round to ensure hundreds of vulnerable children will receive presents at Christmas. A joint initiative between Eastlight Community Homes and officers at the town’s police station has seen more nearly 1,000 gifts collected for youngsters. The community policing team launched a Christmas Giving Tree scheme earlier months to raise money and collect donated presents. Eastlight donated £200 to the initiative and 48 Christmas hampers. It has put forward 37 children living in Eastlight properties in Essex and Suffolk who will be in line to receive some of the presents. Donations have also come in from businesses and residents in the district.
