CKHAF Surpasses Goal Of Christmas Wish Tree Campaign | 99 1 FM CKXS

December 17, 2020   Another incredible effort from the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Foundation as the group has far surpassed this years fund raising goal. The Foundation was looking to raise $100,000 dollars through the Christmas Wish Tree for the hospitals Urology services. They have shot way past that mark and have now raised $175,909 dollars. “We know this past year has been challenging for so many, and I continue to be amazed by the loyalty and generosity of our community,” said CKHAF President and CEO Mary Lou Crowley. “Please know that the funds you have donated will make an impact on patients and families across Chatham-Kent. You are truly making a difference in the lives of others this holiday season, and for that I thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

Hospital foundation s campaign benefits urology services, as Wish Tree is lit

Article content With sub-zero temperatures and snow flurries swirling, the night of Dec. 16 had all the usually makings of the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Foundation’s annual Christmas Wish Tree lighting. But as the tree was lit for the 31st year, the scene on the Wallaceburg hospital’s front lawn was much different. Around ten hospital and foundation members were spaced out near the tree as they listened to multiple presenters, with the public tuning in to the ceremony via YourTV or Facebook live streams at home. Campaign by Stratford, Ont influencer nets donations for long-term care patients

LONDON, ONT. It almost didn’t happen because of COVID-19 restrictions, but hundreds of long-term care patients at four hospitals in southern Ontario, including London and Strathroy, will get Christmas gifts thanks to an unlikely benefactor. The Angel Project, an Ontario-based charity, made a stop at Parkwood Institute Wednesday to deliver Christmas gifts for 30 patients. “They don’t have money or the financial resources,” said volunteer director and secretary/treasurer Dave Houghton. “Some of these people don’t have families. It’s just a simple gift for them, and the staff that you saw taking them in will deliver them Christmas morning.”

Durham University staff and students bring Christmas cheer to the isolated

From left, Durham University students Keely Brown, Chris Ray and Dite Bagdonaite with the Christmas cards they made for care home residents DURHAM University students and staff are bringing festive cheer to people who are in need or feeling isolated this Christmas time, including by writing cards to care home residents. Hundreds of students have quickly joined a new initiative for this year, through which they can write greetings cards to elderly residents of care homes in Durham City and across County Durham who might otherwise be feeling lonely this Christmas. Students have been invited to write something about themselves and perhaps include a photograph. Following a Covid-19 quarantine period, the cards will be delivered in unsealed envelopes – giving care home staff the chance to read them and, if they choose, match students to residents who share their interests or with whom they have something in common.
