Christian County Flooding Forces Schools To NTI

With the looming threat of flooding problems resulting from more than three inches of rain over the weekend, Christian County School students will not be in the classroom. School spokesman John Rittenhouse says Christian County students will attend through Non-Traditional Instruction Monday, with Virtual Learning Academy students to be on the regular school. Rittenhouse says no meals will be provided for NTI or VLA Students. Meanwhile, Christian County officials say both the north and southbound lanes of Fort Campbell Boulevard have reopened after being closed due to flooding Sunday afternoon. The ECC says no other major flooding problems are being reported.

Christian Co School Board members sworn-in

Hopkinsville, KY, USA / WHOP 1230 AM | News Radio Jan 7, 2021 7:22 PM New board members, along with one returning board member, were sworn in at Thursday’s meeting of the Christian County School Board. Tiffany Mumford-Brame, Mike Walker and Jeff Moore were sworn-in virtually by Christian Circuit Judge Andrew Self, who wished them luck, saying he knows they will work their hardest to do the best they can for the students of Christian County. Board member Tom Bell was selected to serve as board chair, filling the role previously filled by former member Linda Keller, with Lindsey Clark chosen as vice-chair. Students had been set to return to in-person, traditional five days a week learning on Wednesday of this week, but due to a spike in local COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations, that was delayed until Monday.  Assistant Superintendent Laura Morris says they are working closely with the health department on getting vaccines to teachers and staff who want one as soon as possible.
