The Christian County Grand Jury returned indictments Friday for charges of child sexual abuse and strangulation.
43-year old Dominique Jason Saxton, of Hopkinsville, was indicted on six counts of first-degree sexual abuse with a victim under 12 years of age. According to the arrest report, Saxton went to the Hopkinsville Police Department and admitted to subjecting a minor family member to sexual contact five or six times at their residence starting in February through the first part of April.

The grand jury indicted 53-year old Eric Louis Smith, of Oak Grove, on charges of first-degree strangulation and fourth-degree assault – child abuse. The charges stem from February 12 when Oak Grove police reported Smith was in a physical altercation with his daughter when he allegedly picked her up by her throat and threw her to the ground. While on the ground, police said he allegedly kept his hands on her throat to the point where she was unable to breathe.
A Christian Circuit Court judge continued a hearing scheduled Monday morning for a Hopkinsville City Councilwoman who is charged with forgery.
Councilwoman Kimberly McCarley was indicted by the Christian County Grand Jury on August 16, 2019, for second-degree forgery. She is accused of forging the name of a woman on a bank document without her permission on June 22, 2016.
According to court records, Commonwealth’s Attorney Rick Boling presented an order to Judge John Atkins to dismiss the forgery charge, however, neither McCarley nor her attorney Ben Fletcher appeared for the hearing. Judge Atkins declined to sign the order until everyone could be in court in person to discuss it. He set another hearing for everyone to be in court at 8:30 a.m. on July 7th.

Shequita Buckner, of Hopkinsville, was indicted for first-degree assault in connection to a March shooting on Kenwood Drive where police reported she shot 36-year old Kimberly Harrell in the arm. Harrell was flown to Skyline Medical Center for treatment.

The grand jury indicted Daniel Coombs, of Wyoming, on charges of first-degree rape of a victim under 12 years old and first-degree sodomy of a victim under 12. The alleged rape and sodomy of the minor reportedly occurred between July 24, 2019 and September 2020.
