A Monday afternoon wreck on Pennyrile Parkway, three miles north of the Crofton exit, injured five people, two of them seriously.
Christian County Sheriff’s deputies say a northbound vehicle ran off the roadway, went through a guardrail, and down an embankment, hitting a tree.
Four people, including children, had to be extricated from the vehicle by the Christian County Rescue Team with one child found under the SUV.
Two people were flown from the scene to Nashville hospitals with severe injuries. Three more people from the vehicle were taken by ambulance to Baptist Health in Madisonville with injuries.
The crash happened just after 2 pm.
Three people were seriously injured in a weather-related crash Tuesday morning on I-24 in Christian County.
A semi was stopped with traffic on the eastbound side near the 71 mile-marker when it was rear-ended by a pickup that was hauling a trailer with a vehicle on it, according to Deputy Chris Miller.
Another semi then struck the rear of the pickup, causing severe damage.
All three occupants of the pickup had to be extricated by the Christian County Rescue Team. Two males were taken to Jennie Stuart Medical Center and a female was flown to Vanderbilt University medical center with multiple serious injuries.
