A jury trial was scheduled in the forgery case against a Hopkinsville City councilwoman.
During a virtual pretrial conference in Christian Circuit Court Wednesday morning, defense attorney David Rye represented Kimberly McCarley on behalf of Ben Fletcher and asked for Chief Circuit Judge John Atkins to set a trial date. Judge Atkins set a jury trial for May 24th.
McCarley was indicted in August 2019 for second-degree forgery after she allegedly forged the name of a woman on a bank document without permission on June 22, 2016.
McCarley has served on Hopkinsville City Council since 2009 and represents Ward 2.
The suspect charged in a 2018 Oak Grove shooting case received a new trial date Monday morning in Christian Circuit Court after the previous trial date had been vacated due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Adrian Murrary, 22, Oak Grove, appeared in Judge John Atkinsâ court via Zoom while at the Christian County Jail while his attorney Michael Thompson appeared from his office.
Murrayâs case was originally scheduled for a jury trial to take place beginning Monday morning. However, due to the COVID pandemic no trials have taken place since the courts shut down in early 2020, forcing the court to vacate Murrayâs trial date and schedule a new one.

A new trial date was set Monday in Christian Circuit Court for Adrian Murray, the man accused of shooting Keosha Willis in Oak Grove in 2018.
Trial had been set to begin Monday for 22-year old Adrian Murray, but it had to be delayed.
Attorney Michael Thompson has been looking to find a way for Murray to be released until his trial and while Murray is sought on an indictment warrant in Montgomery County, Thompson says it’s likely he could bond out in Clarksville with an ankle monitor if he’s able to get out of the Christian County Jail.
The suspect accused of the 2015 Pembroke triple murder appeared in Christian Circuit Court Thursday afternoon with his attorney, who intends to file a motion to dismiss the indictment in the case based on cell phone evidence.
Christian Martin, 52, appeared in court via Zoom while at the Christian County Jail while his defense attorney Tom Griffiths also appeared via Zoom.
Griffiths explained to Judge John Atkins that he was able to receive most of the evidence the defense requested from the commonwealthâs cell phone expert and after reviewing a portion of that evidence, he intends to file a motion for Martinâs indictment to be dismissed.

Proceedings were continued in Christian Circuit Court Wednesday morning in the case against Terrence Stepp, the man accused in the 2018 murder of Tamara Dragoo.
Stepp appeared virtually from the Christian County Jail along with defense attorney Michael Thompson, who informed the court that he has received a significant amount of evidence in this case and needs more time to go through it all. Circuit Judge John Atkins granted his request and set the next pretrial hearing for March 24, which he says should be ample time to look over the evidence.
Stepp had previously been lodged in the Hopkins County Jail, as that county is where he was apprehended, but he has been transferred back to Christian County.
