While speaking at the funeral service of the deceased, former Deputy Governor of Gombe State, John Lazarus Yorio, charged leaders in all spheres of authority to be fair and just to all people irrespective of religion or tribe reminding the congregation that they will one-day face judgement before God.

Share Former Zonal Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), North-East and the Rector, ECWA Theological College, Bayara, Bauchi, Rev Dr Shuaibu Byal has died at the age of 63 barely a few months after he lost his son. He was said to have slumped and died on Friday evening from suspected cardiac arrest due to a long time sickness he had been battling following a fatal accident he had a few years ago which kept him bedridden for more than one year. While Confirming the death in an interview with our Correspondent on Saturday, the Academic Dean of ECWA Theological College, Bayara, Rev Matthew Wakili Laslimbo said that he was full of life the morning before he died saying that he was in the school till closing time.

Gombe State Govt approves 70 slots for Christian pilgrims to Israel

By Peter Uwumarogie Gombe, Jan 9, 2021 Gov. Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe state, on Saturday, said the government had approved 70 slots for Christians going on pilgrimage to Israel in 2021. Yahaya, who confirmed this to a delegation of the Christian community in the state, who paid him a New Year visit, stated that the challenges that his administration met on ground caused Christians not to travel to Israel for the 2019 pilgrimage. “ This year, a good number has been approved. I think about 70 Christian faithfuls will make it to Jerusalem”, he said while assuring that the state government would continually support pilgrims to Israel, as well as ensuring an environment conducive for people to practice their faith.
