Just under 8,000 early votes were cast in Killeen-area elections over the nine days.
The early voting period for Killeen area city and school board elections ended Tuesday, with Election Day this Saturday.
In the Killeen City Council election, where four district seats are on the ballot, 1,388 ballots were cast during early voting.
In 2019, 932 early votes were cast in the Killeen city election and 1,726 early votes cast in the KISD election.
In the Killeen Independent School District election, which involves two board seats, more than 2,443 voters cast ballots during early voting.

KILLEEN, Texas As the city of Killeen continues to grow so does the need for new schools for new students moving into the area.
The sight of construction workers and homes popping up in new neighborhoods is a sign that the city of Killeen is growing.
“With the influx of people coming into the district and moving into an area that is family oriented and affordable, we have to have more schools to make sure we accommodate the students coming with those families. We have to make sure they have a great education,” Iris Felder, Executive Director of KISD Elementary Schools, said.
A Nolanville man was arrested earlier this week after police said the ex-teacher assaulted and injured a Killeen middle school student last year.
Michael Joseph Duvall, 31, was arrested on Tuesday by U.S. Marshals and charged with injury to a disabled person with intentional bodily injury. The charge is a third-degree felony, punishable by two to 10 years in jail.
Killeen Independent School District police began investigating Duvall after a complaint was made to police on Dec. 2, 2020, that Duvall âhad been mistreating and physically assaulting a special needs student in his care at a middle school in Killeen,â according to the arrest affidavit. âA witness reported that she had observed Duvall strike (the victim) on multiple occasions on his head and body. The witness had also observed Duvall pinch the victim on pressure points on his body to the point where the victim would cry out and start to bang his head against the desk.â
