COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Young Women’s National Championship is returning after a one-year hiatus and it will have a double dose of Buckeye representation.
Incoming freshman
Claudia Thomas, a native of Louisville, Ky. and recent graduate of Christian Academy of Louisville, will compete for Team Unity while assistant coach
Kate Lipton will be the head coach for Team Brave.
The tournament will be held at the Virginia Beach Regional Training Center in Virginia Beach, Va. from June 15-20 and feature the top players in the country in their respective age groups. The top collegiate and post-collegiate players will compete with selection for the 2021-22 U.S. U-21/ U-22 and Women’s National Development Teams at stake. All current Rise, U-21 and National Development Team members will be invited to participate in the tournament.

Carl Sadler is 79 and lives near Lake George, in upstate New York. Nearly 20 years ago, Sadler worked in Manhattan in the South Tower of the World Trade Center as an executive director at the investment bank Morgan Stanley.
On 9/11, he was on the 76th floor when the first plane struck the neighboring North Tower, and he narrowly escaped before the second plane hit his building. Sadler later developed thyroid cancer and asthma, among a host of other long-term illnesses.
Sadler and thousands of other survivors of the terror attacks became eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine in mid-February as part of the state’s move to expand vaccine access to people with serious health conditions, including 9/11-related cancers that make them more vulnerable to the coronavirus.
