Gov. Jay Inslee has appointed mediation attorney Nancy Retsinas to replace Clark County Superior Court Judge Daniel L. Stahnke, who is retiring June 30.
Retsinas founded Retsinas Collaborative Law Center, located in Vancouver, in 2015. She has served largely as a mediator for the last six years, assisting families with navigating ante-nuptial agreements and marriage dissolutions.
Her nearly 30-year law career has also included practice in consumer protection, family law, criminal law and juvenile delinquency.

The Clark County Council will consider a resolution later this month to declare Fair Housing Month.
The council unanimously agreed during a council time meeting Wednesday to place the item for consideration on its April 20 meeting agenda. Council Chair Eileen Quiring O’Brien said she introduced the proclamation at the request of the Clark County Association of Realtors.
The declaration celebrates the 53rd anniversary of the enactment of the federal Fair Housing Act on April 11, 1968.
The act enshrined into federal law the goal of eliminating racial segregation and housing discrimination. It committed recipients of federal funding, like Clark County, to promoting fair housing locally.

If Washington’s extended ban on evictions expires at the end of March, 46-year-old Antonio Salazar could potentially lose his housing.
Salazar, a native of Mexico and 20-year resident of Redmond, worked as a chef until a few years ago when he suffered an accident that required spinal surgery. His only source of income had been workers’ compensation, which he said the state terminated a year ago, just before the pandemic set in.
