More home construction allowed near new CMCSS schools site

View Comments More substantial home construction is likely destined for an area of Montgomery County that is simultaneously gaining new public schools. The Montgomery County Commission on Monday night approved the property rezoning application of Gordon Seay, from AG Agricultural District to R-1 Single-Family Residential District. Seay has said the rezoning will pave the way for nice homes in the same area where the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System is building new schools and other residential construction is already happening. The newly-rezoned site encompasses 138.3 acres, on the south frontage of Buck Road, 800 feet east of the south intersection of Buck and Kirkwood roads.

Former county commissioners Brenda Radford and Lettie Kendall

Two female leaders in Montgomery County are being remembered after dying in recent days. Lettie Kendall, a former county commissioner and longtime educator, has also died.  Radford ran for public office in 1998 and served two terms as a county commissioner. In 2006, she was elected as county trustee, serving three terms before retiring in 2018.  “Brenda Radford was a long-standing public servant who dedicated 43 years of her life serving Montgomery County,” Montgomery County Mayor Jim Durrett told The Leaf Chronicle. “Ms. Radford valued the concerns of citizens in each of her roles and was always working to help financially vulnerable individuals who were seeking property tax relief.”
