Marquette adjunct psychology professor receives Faculty Award for Teaching Excellence

MILWAUKEE Dr. Kimberly Norden, adjunct assistant professor of psychology in the Klingler College of Arts and Sciences at Marquette University, is the recipient of a 2021 John P. Raynor, S.J. Faculty Award for Teaching Excellence. Marquette’s Teaching Excellence Awards are the highest honor bestowed upon university faculty members. Recipients are nominated by colleagues and students for demonstrating excellence as teacher-scholars. The awards are supported by grants from the Robert and Mary Gettel Fund, the Stearns Foundation, and Mr. and Mrs. “I am honored and humbled to receive this award, given the incredibly stressful year we all just survived. Marquette ecology, physical therapy faculty members receive prestigious Fulbright Scholar awards

The recipients are Dr. Stefan Schnitzer, Mellon Distinguished Professor of plant community ecology/tropical forest ecology in the Klingler College of Arts and Sciences, and Dr. Guy Simoneau, professor of physical therapy in the College of Health Sciences. Schnitzer received a research award, allowing him to travel to the Netherlands to utilize his ongoing research to formulate predictions and testable hypotheses for when forests will reach their tipping point. Simoneau received a research/teaching award, allowing him to collaborate on the development of a clinical trial on physical therapy interventions for the treatment of chronic low back pain in the elderly population, while also offering guest lectures and seminars.

Marquette political science professor honored with Way Klingler Sabbatical Award

MILWAUKEE Dr. Noelle Brigden, associate professor of political science in the Klingler College of Arts and Sciences at Marquette University, is the recipient of the 2021 Way Klingler Sabbatical Award. The award allows Brigden the opportunity to complete research, which was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, concerning the social imagination of boundaries between street gangs and communities and the lived experience of citizenship in urban El Salvador. The work contributes to the collective understanding of the contemporary Central American refugee crisis. “I am deeply grateful to receive this award at a critical moment,” Brigden said.
