MILWAUKEE Dr.
Kimberly Norden, adjunct assistant professor of psychology in the Klingler College of Arts and Sciences at Marquette University, is the recipient of a 2021 John P. Raynor, S.J. Faculty Award for Teaching Excellence.
Marquette’s Teaching Excellence Awards are the highest honor bestowed upon university faculty members. Recipients are nominated by colleagues and students for demonstrating excellence as teacher-scholars. The awards are supported by grants from the Robert and Mary Gettel Fund, the Stearns Foundation, and Mr. and Mrs.
“I am honored and humbled to receive this award, given the incredibly stressful year we all just survived. Teaching all of my classes online for the past two semesters has made me so much more appreciative of engaging with students in person,” Norden said. “I’m really looking forward to returning to in-person classes in the fall! I’m also grateful to receive this aw
This year, the Student’s Union (SU) announced 40 recipients of the annual Teaching Excellence Awards (TEA). These recipients honoured faculty members, instructors and teaching assistants, who were able to deliver exceptional instruction in a more than difficult academic year. The shift to online learning certainly wasn’t easy, and in a statement, Semhar Abraha, former vice-president academic, also recognized this.
“This year has been extremely challenging for teaching and learning at all levels,” Abraha said. “Everyone has had to adapt and sacrifice in different ways. We are proud to abe able to highlight teachers who went above and beyond to support their students, especially during this difficult year. We hope these teachers know how much they are appreciated.”

Vice-president academic: Renzo Pereyra
The vice-president academic is responsible for improving the academic experience and promoting undergraduate research. Their job mostly consists of sitting on committees, meeting with various members of university administration and administering programs like the Teaching Excellence Awards and Undergraduate Research Symposium.
Remember that one election where some first-year student ran for president? Well, that student would be Renzo Pereyra, and he’s back this time securing the acclaimed position for vice-president academic.
On his previous experiences running in his last SU election, Pereyra jokes he learned that “SU politics is not high school politics.” This past year saw Pereyra reflecting on what it was he actually wanted to accomplish if elected to an SU position, which in his platform for vice-president academic, is outlined in four major points.
