A woman from St. Clair County's Riley Township has been convicted on charges of animal cruelty following an investigation last month. According to St. Clair County Animal Control, 30 year old Courtney Larowe is accused of housing two horses in poor living conditions at a home in the 1200 block of Griffin Road. Larowe plead guilty to two counts of animal cruelty last week. She iss forbidden from owning animals for at least five years and had to pay a $800 fine. One of the sick horses found at the farm was euthanized, the other was taken to a non profit animal rescue. Animal control officials urge anyone aware of animal collecting, cruelty, or neglect to report the conditions to 984-3155.

16 cats removed from Burtchville Twp. home
St. Clair County Animal Control removed 16 cats and kittens from a Burtchville Township residence Monday.
The seizure came after a complaint of animal neglect and alleged hoarding in the 6000 block of Delaware Drive.
Earlier in the week, residents had tried to assist with the removal of approximately 31 cats from the same residence, according to county officials.
A search warrant was drafted and executed and county officials seized the remaining 16 cats and kittens. Several of the animals were sick or injured. The floors and most surfaces in the residence were covered in animal urine and feces and the case is expected to be forwarded to the prosecutor s office.

PORT HURON, MI A joint operation between police and animal control led to the rescue of 19 cats and 3 dogs from a Port Huron home where they were living in rough circumstances, police say.
Central Dispatch was advised there were a number of cats, several dogs, and a raccoon inside a home at the 700 block of Tunnel Street on Monday, March 8.
Officers arrived and found the residents were living in “deplorable conditions,” according to a Port Huron Police Department news release. Several cats were observed and the St. Clair County Animal Control was contacted for assistance.
