Students across the province will be able to start their Christmas break at the end of the day. The big question of course is will it be longer than two weeks.
Education minister Steven Lecce has warned school boards across the province to prepare for remote learning after January 4th if necessary.
Deb Crawford, the Director of Education for the St. Clair District Catholic School Board says she doesn’t think that will impact this area.
“From our perspective, we believe that our Yellow state of COVID here has made us very safe, and at this point we have no indication that we would, locally, be closing or changing our delivery (of education) come January.”

Despite rumors making the rounds the brain trust in charge of the two local school systems are confirming school will resume following the Christmas break and there is no extended break planned.
The key word here is planned. Deb Crawford is the Director of Education for the St. Clair District Catholic School Board.
She says they encourage everyone to take things home with them at the break just to be on the safe side. “ What we would want our staff to do at all times is be prepared if there is a change as we are in a pandemic, we want to be ever ready to switch to virtual learning if that happens. But there would be no formal communication of an extended break.”
