Unvaccinated people make up majority of Alabama COVID-19 deaths
Alabama officials are growing increasingly concerned as vaccination rates remain stagnant and new COVID-19 cases have steadily increased in mid-July. Doctors believe the delta variant will soon account for the majority of COVID-19 cases.
Though the average number of new daily cases is still low compared the surges the state saw in January, case counts are increasing at a rapid pace. This may be the beginning of a wildfire, and what we know about wildfires is that they are unpredictable. Sometimes we can contain them, and sometimes we cannot, said Dr. Rachael Lee, a UAB epidemiologist and infectious disease professor.

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - The Delta variant of COVID-19 is spreading rapidly and its impact is being felt the hardest in southern states. Alabama’s governor is not holding back. She’s got some strong words especially for those who are not vaccinated.
There are several reasons why less than 40 percent of Alabama residents have not gotten their COVID-19 shots. Despite their reasoning, Alabama Governor Kay Ivey is now calling on “the unvaccinated folks”.
