Businesses unite to provide free meals for local healthcare workers Updated at Share This Ball Ventures employees “Feeding our Heroes” with meals provided by local businesses and restaurants. | Courtesy Liza Leonard IDAHO FALLS Local healthcare workers have been on the front lines treating and screening patients since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, and dozens of businesses are uniting to say thank you. A local nonprofit called Mountain View Charity recently launched “Feeding our Heroes,” a program dedicated to providing thousands of free meals to workers on shift at Idaho Falls Community Hospital and Mountain View Hospital. Cortney Liddiard, CEO of Ball Ventures, one of the sponsors of the program, tells EastIdahoNews.com the response from businesses and vendors has been surprising.

Armed robbery suspect arrested after chase Juan Carlos Rosales AMMON, Idaho (KIFI/KIDK)-Bonneville County Sheriff s Office deputies arrested Juan Carlos Rosales, 28, of Idaho Falls after an armed robbery and high speed chase.    Officers were called to the Hitt the Road Gas Station at the intersection of Ammon and Lincoln Roads at around 11 p.m. Saturday.  A clerk said a man wearing a mask entered the business amd demanded money. He said the man indicated he had a weapon under his sweatshirt.   The robber took a small amount of money from the register and left in a silver car. Within a few minutes, officers spotted a silver Honda driving at a high rate of speed through the roundabout at Ammon and Lincoln and proceeded east.   The chase went east to Lincoln Road to 55th East, then north through the city of Iona at speeds of up to 75 miles per hour.   During the chase, the vehicle ran stop signs and drove through the middle of the roundabout at at 45th East before losing

Idaho Falls details Christmas tree disposal sites City of Idaho Falls IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI/KIDK)-Idaho Falls Sanitation Division has designated multiple sites for disposal of discarded Christmas trees at the end of the holidays.  Due to procedures at the Bonneville County Transfer Station, those trees should not be placed in with the regular garbage. The disposal service will be provided until January 30.  The 15 sites are intended for city residents only and should not be used by commercial tree lots for any unsold leftovers. You should remove all ornaments and lights before discarding the tree, since they will be chipped and turned into mulch. The mulch will be made available to residents next spring at the city maintenance garage at 2530 Hemmert Avenue.

Man rescued from icy river water - Local News 8

Man rescued from icy river water IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI/KIDK)-One man was rescued after falling into the Snake River at the Gem Lake Marina, 2761 W. 49th South at around 10:45 a.m. Saturday. The Idaho Falls Fire Department learned the 56-year-old man and his wife were walking with their dog near the river. The dog went into the water and the man went into the river after it. The dog made it out safely, but the man could not pull himself out. When ambulance personnel arrived, they tossed a rope to the victim, who was holding onto the ice about 30 feet from shore. One firefighter was already dressed in a water suit and jumped into the icy water, wrapped a rope under the victim s arm and helped him to shore, according to the Fire Department.
