LA GRANDE, Ore. – This year Eastern Oregon University hosts the annual Spring Symposium, May 20 and 21, virtually. Hosting virtually creates an opportunity for all students to participate and allows families from everywhere to watch their students present their research and experiences.
Instead of setting up multiple classrooms, each presenter will join a certain Zoom link. EOU librarians Sarah Ralston and Sally Mielke organized the event and said they are excited for the accessibility aspect that a virtual event allows for.

The University of Oregon will require students and faculty to have the COVID-19 vaccine to attend fall in-person classes.
UO President Michael Schill made the announcement Monday afternoon, making UO the fourth public university in Oregon to create the new requirement. Over the past couple of weeks, university leadership engaged in broad discussions with a wide variety of experts and stakeholders, including students, faculty, and staff, to develop our policy on COVID-19 vaccinations, Schill stated in the announcement. We have concluded that to protect the health and safety of our university community and the communities we serve, the University of Oregon will require students, faculty and staff who will be on campus to be vaccinated prior to the start of the fall 2021 academic term.
VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Valley City State University will hold a spring commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 15 at 10am in the W.E. Osmon Fieldhouse, to honor its graduating class during the 2021 spring semester.
VCSU will recognize 318 graduates. 278 will receive bachelor’s degrees and 36 will receive master’s degrees. All graduates recognized at the Virtual Commencement Ceremonies in May 2020 and December 2020 are also invited back to participate in the face-to-face ceremony. The in-person ceremony will also be live streamed on VCSU’s Youtube channel: www.youtube.com/vcsuvikings
President LaFave will preside over the commencement exercises. Graduating senior, Peyton Halverson, will deliver the undergraduate reflection, and the faculty reflection will be presented by Kevin Murphy, assistant professor of mathematics.
