KUALA LUMPUR, May 24 All departments and enforcement agencies under the Home Ministry (KDN) have been instructed to increase the number of monitoring operations and take stern action against individuals violating the standard operating procedure (SOP) of the Movement Control Order (MCO).
In a statement, the ministry said that apart from increasing the number of personnel and roadblocks, monitoring would also be carried out nationwide, including at business and industrial premises.
It added that monitoring would also be conducted at office buildings, residential areas, terminals and public transport stations like KTM Komuter, LRT, MRT, ERL, KL Monorail as well as through e-hailing services.
These agencies have collectively deployed a force of more than 100,000 throughout MCO 3.0 so far.
In a statement on Monday (May 24), the ministry said it was closely monitoring the Covid-19 pandemic development in the country and took note of the government’s decision to tighten compliance with SOPs aimed at curbing the transmission of the virus. All departments and agencies under the ministry such as the police, Immigration, Prisons Department, Rela, Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom), National Anti-Drug Agency and Malaysian Border Security Agency (Aksem) will increase the number of operations to monitor, warn and take stern action against any individual found to have violated the gazetted SOPs, it said.

KOTA KINABALU (THE STAR) – It is time to give Sabah the additional security assets promised back in 2013, said former chief minister Datuk Yong Teck Lee
(pic below).
He said this includes basing seven battalions of security personnel in the state, the acquisition of advanced sea patrol boats and other security assets for the Eastern Sabah Security Zone (Esszone).
The Esszone covers areas up to three nautical miles off Tawau, Semporna, Kunak, Lahad Datu, Kinabatangan, Sandakan and Beluran.
Announcements about additional security assets were made after the 2013 Tanduo conflict, where armed intruders from the Philippines encroached into Sabah via Lahad Datu and waged a war against the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
