The Valley City softball team continued their quest to finish the regular season in second place in the Eastern Dakota Conference with a 10-0 shutout win over Grand Forks Red River.
It was senior day and the Hi-Liners seniors were able to contribute offensively with the five of them (Erika Anderson, Lexi Leroux, Hailey Schaefer, Emma Mielke, and Hailey Thoreson) combining for seven hits and seven RBI.
Schaefer led the way on the mound with six shutout innings giving up just three hits and fanning eight batters with just one walk. She now has an impressive 118 Ks on the season with only 12 walks. At the plate, she had three singles with an RBI and two runs.

WEST FARGO Familiar faces occupy West Fargo Sheyenne’s dugout. Ten seniors provide experience, leadership and depth for the Mustangs. They also produce wins.
The Mustangs, projected to finish first in the Eastern Dakota Conference in the preseason coaches poll, were expected to win baseball games this season. They’ve proved the early rating wasn’t a fluke.
The Mustangs are 14-3-1 overall (14.5-3.5) this season with a 6-0 mark in the EDC the only team from the East Region with an undefeated conference record.
VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Ella Roaldson’s two run double with two out in the seventh highlighted a three run rally for Jamestown as the Blue Jays downed Valley City 6-4 in game one of the doubleheader. The Blue Jays offense picked up in in the second game when they left off in the first game with a 19-3 win in four innings.
Jamestown had 25 runs and 25 hits in the two games. Seven starter has hits in game one all nine starters reached base with seven getting hits in game two.
Jamestown has won four in a row and are 7-3 on the season. Valley City has dropped three straight after winning their first three games of the year.
