An elderly man was rescued from his home by fire fighters after a serious blaze spread through his bungalow.
A1 near Newark closed for more than two hours after crash

A main road in Nottinghamshire was closed in both directions following a crash involving two cars.
Police were called to the incident on the A1 near Balderton outside of Newark, with traffic affected between the B6326 junction and Valley Lane.
Highways England reported the crash at around 9.40am on Thursday morning (January 7).
Crews from Newark station attended and extricated one person from a vehicle before handing over to East Midlands Ambulance Service.
The closure is reported to be causing very slow traffic .
